9 Kondi Band “Fatou” From We Famous (Strut) Kondi Band feature Los Angeles based producer and DJ Chief Boima, London’s Will LV and Sorie Kondi, who was born blind in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Building a name for himself as a street musician after Sierra Leone’s decade-long civil war ended in 2002, he adopted the name of his instrument, a custom-made 15-pin thumb piano, known as the kondi. Charmaine Lee is a New York based vocalist and improvisor from Sydney who uses amplification, feedback and microphones to augment and distort the voice. 16 Gaspar Claus “Un Rivage” From Tancade (InFiné) French cellist Gaspar Claus has explored diverse genres, from film soundtracks, post-classical, ambient, neo-flamenco, pop and electro to contemporary jazz. Claus’s collaborations include work with artists such as Bryce Dessner, Sufjan Stevens and his father, the renowned flamenco guitarist Pedro Soler. 15 Oaken Chariot “They Are Looking At Us From Above” From Oaken Chariot (Gost Zvuk) Anton Dvoenko of Gamayun, whose album Filterealism was released by Gost Zvuk in 2020, and Vasiliy Shilov make up the duo Dubovaya Kolesnitsa (The Oaken Chariot), a project designed to adapt roots music to Russia (the Gost Zvuk label is “is dedicated exclusively to the Russian and ex-USSR scene”). The Russian word for oak is dub, and chariot refers to the word for the duo’s jams (telega) which can translate as cart. All the music
