Welcome to the International Festival Guide 2020-21
This festival guide, produced by Songlines magazine, hopes to entice you to go on a musical adventure and explore music beyond your everyday surroundings. There's a staggering choice of festivals – from ones that take over whole cities to intimate gatherings in isolated locations. This guide aims to be a tool to highlight the myriad of festivals taking place across the world. The festivals are listed chronologically, from the beginning of March 2020 through to the end of February 2021 and are
colour coded according to their geographical location in order to make it easier to use (see key below). The various WOMADs around the world are highlighted on p12 and there’s a page focused on some of the international expo-festivals taking place (p36). There are also Q&As with artistic directors who reveal their thoughts on what makes a successful festival. Here's hoping this guide will provide the inspiration to venture out and discover new musical experiences.
