August 5-14 2016 Europe Festival Interceltique de Lorient Lorient, France Année de l’Australie France’s biggest festival sees 250,000 people visit Lorient for a ten-day celebration of Celtic culture every year. There is cause for celebration this year as 2016 is the 350th anniversary of Lorient and it coincides with the festival’s tribute to Australia and its vast
Celtic diaspora. Lorient’s birth will be commemorated with a special Interceltic Night performance, while Aboriginal composer Archie Roach, Celtic band Claymore and flautist Jane Rutter will open proceedings with a special concert at the Grand Théâtre.
