PETER ASPDEN is the Deputy and Literary Editor of the Times Higher Education Supplement and writes regularly on Italian cinema .

LIZZIE FRANCKE's book , Script Girls - Women Writers in Hollywood , is due to be published in 1994. She writes regularly for the Guardian and Sight and Sound.

DONALD TRELFORD was Editor of the Observer for 18 years until it was bought by the Guardian in June. He acquired a love of flying and of the aviation epics of SaintExupery while on his National Service. He recently persuaded the RAF to risk a £3 million Tornado by letting him fly as co-pilot.

JONATHAN ROMNEY is Deputy Editor of Sight and Sound magazine. He is also the film critic for the New Statesman.

TERESA GORMAN, Member of Parliament for Billericay, Essex, since 1987, believes that women's rights will assert themselves through the ordinary function of the free market. She is constantly rumoured to be about to launch a challenge to the Conservative leadership on the issue of the Maastricht Treaty .
