Editor’s Note
It’s February already. I find that so hard to believe. Time really is like an hourglass. I completely understand that now. As 2008 moves into its whole existence, it’s still pretty exciting that it’s a new year. I suppose a new year can feel like a new pair of socks or clean sheets on the bed. It’s shaping up to be a great winter for the arts with so many exhibitions, films, events and festivals underway or just about to happen. The greatest thing about being the editor of Aesthetica Magazine is knowing what’s going to happen next, at least I can plan my social calendar early. I’ve even had an invite to the Cannes Film Festival this year. Blow me over with a feather; I think I’m going to go. Don’t worry; you’ll get a full report in the magazine or in my blog. Speaking of which, I am really keen to get you interacting more with the blog, so please visit me and leave a comment http:// aestheticamagazine.blogspot.com. Issue 21 of Aesthetica is the most exciting issue to date. There are some fabulous features inside, from Contemporary Art from Cuba at Iniva, Gordon Cheung at The Chinese Arts Centre, to Daljit Nagra, winner of the Forward Prize: Best First Collection in 2007 and Sarah Waters giving us a few hints about her new book due out later this year. In film, we have a feature on women in film, while in music there’s the exciting Hijak Oscar, as well as a round up of the five most innovative theatre productions this winter. Issue 21 is jam packed with cultural goodness. I’ve really enjoyed getting this issue together. I hope that you enjoy reading, and as ever please do get in touch with any comments, feedback or suggestions.
