In '943, after seven uiumphant seasons wilh the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, John Barbirolli accepted the position of conductor of the Hallc Orchestra. This Orchestra is justly proud of its great traditions, and, under Barbirolli's inspiration, is reaching new heights, for he is one of the greatest as well as one of the youngCllt conductors of international rank. The tumulmous ovation accorded him during his recent appearance in Vienna was said to be the most enthusiastic ever given to a visiting conductor.
