RIVERSIDE STUDIOS, LONDON, OCTOBER 6,1964 Yehudi Menuhin tutors a seven-year-old Nigel I(ennedy
Menuhin steered his young protege through a masterclass for BBe 2 television, an occasion witnessed at close quarters by photographer Erich Auerbach. Kennedy was to go on to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School. Many years later he presented his mentor with Gramophone's Lifetime Achievement Award playing a piece of solo Bach especially for him. 'I'mglad you still find the classics speak to you,' was Menuhin's delighted response. And the classics still seem to weave their magic for Kennedy as he releases his second album of concertos by Vivaldi, recorded with the virtuoso - and modern instrument players of the Berlin Philharmonic.
