Strawberry Hill Overseas and Community Concern

SHOCC (Reg. No: 1120787) is the official charity of St Mary’s University, Twickenham. We were founded in 2007 and since then have raised nearly £1 million for projects, both local and overseas.

Our philosophy illustrates reciprocal philanthropy where we develop an ongoing relationship with our partners and treat them with respect. We have very few costs and 98% of every donated pound goes to our projects.

We are currently working with (from left to right above) Maryknoll Sister and Simmarian Dee Smith who runs an HIV/ AIDS hospice in Guatemala; Mama Yohana Mcha, Principal of Orkilili school,

near Moshi, Assumption Sister Schola at Kisaki Girls’ school, Singida and Spiritan Fr Peter Kway, at St Jude’s Academy, Mto Wa Mbu all in Tanzania. We are also, in conjunction with the Parish of Gt. Bookham and Effingham Surrey, supporting Christ the King school, South Sudan.

We urgently need funds to complete the girls’ secondary school and primary academy.

WELLS NEEDED

Missionaries constantly appeal to The Little Way for funds to sink wells in order to provide clean water, the lack of which causes much illness and many medical needs. On average, women in Africa and Asia walk around three hours every day to fetch water, often in scorching heat.

Can you help provide a well?

Your kind gift will be forwarded intact and gratefully received.

FOOD IS NEEDED BY MANY FAMILIES IN MONGOLIA

Consolata Sr Anne Waturu works with the poor in Mongolia and wishes to improve food security and create sustainable livelihoods for those struggling to heat their homes in winter, as to improve nutrition and living standard of all concerned. She tells The Little Way Association: “We work in an area of the capital where the people live in gers, the traditional tents of Mongolia. A very large number of families in Ulaanbaatar have very little food and other needs, with children under the age of five the worst a˜ected, su˜ering stunting in height and muscle wastage. The funds we hope you will send us will enable us to provide food for the poorest of the poor who are really struggling to survive and then the little money earned from menial jobs can be used for fuel and other basic needs such as clothing, hygiene materials and education.”

Hunger is painful, and you will have the deep gratitude of many people

The Little Way Association receives many requests each week from missionaries who want to assist the poorest and most vulnerable people in deprived areas throughout the world. A donation to our fund for the hungry, sick and deprived will help The Little Way Association to continue to say “yes” to deserving and viable missionary projects for the needy.
